The delegation from the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Aid and Relief visited on Tuesday morning (05) two social programs carried out by the Federation of Muslim Associations in Brazil – FAMBRAS in the city of São Paulo: “Cataract Surgery” and “Sewing A Better Life”. Both actions have been providing more health and income generation, respectively, for thousands of people.

In the first appointment, members of the Saudi entity – Bashher Salem Al Sharari, director of the food department, and Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Althumairi, director of the operational department – accompanied by the vice-president of FAMBRAS, Ali-Zoghbi, and the directors Delduque Martins, of institutional relations projects, and Ahmed Khalaf, of international programs – were received by the presidency and board of the Suel Abujamra Institute, the largest ophthalmology service center of the SUS in the State of São Paulo. There, they closely learned about the procedures of cataract surgeries.

Next, the delegation visited the Immigrant CIC in Barra Funda to learn about the “Sewing A Better Life” project. Targeting immigrants and refugees residing in São Paulo – all in a situation of social vulnerability – the aim is to train sewing professionals. They participate in a training course and receive a sewing machine and all the necessary materials for work. The equipment can even be taken home to optimize the production of pieces.

This was the last day of activities of the saudi delegation in Brazil, a visit planned to mark the beginning of the project “Distribution of 100 tons of Dates in the Federative Republic of Brazil and neighboring countries,” conceived by the King Salman Center and executed by FAMBRAS. The directors were present at events held in São Paulo and Brasília. The distribution of dates will continue throughout the month, reaching more people across the country.
