Quran Recitation Tournament in Cairo the event gathered people from various countries

With the support of FAMBRAS and Al-Azhar, young Muslims compete for the most beautiful voice

The Holy Quran Recitation Championship is taking place in the city of Cairo, Egypt. “Beautiful Voices” is a contest among foreign students from various parts of the world. The competition includes Muslims from all over the world and was conducted by the Al-Azhar Graduates’ World Organization and Nour Magazine; the Federation of Muslim Associations in Brazil – FAMBRAS sponsored the competition.

In the tournament, competitors are being evaluated by popular vote to choose the best voice. Voting occurs through interaction with event video posts on social media, where voters must type the name of the contestant or country to identify the most beautiful voice among the participants according to their own opinion. Voting starts from the first post.

The contest has strict criteria to be met by the candidates. The maximum age allowed for the participant should not exceed 15 years, ensuring that the competitors are young and promising. Furthermore, for foreign students, it is necessary to be students of the prestigious Al-Azhar Al-Sharif institution.

The eliminations occur in two stages, with the first elimination already carried out in the first week of Ramadan 2024-1445H, followed by the second elimination which is still happening. The meeting takes place during this period of the Islamic calendars due to the importance of the sacred month for Muslims.

Interested parties must meet all the requirements, in addition to being prepared for the challenges that will come.

What is Al-Azhar?

Al-Azhar is a renowned Islamic institution of higher education located in the Egyptian capital. Founded in the 10th century, it is one of the oldest universities in the world still in operation. Al-Azhar is known for its emphasis on Islamic education and the dissemination of both religious and secular knowledge within the Sunni Islamic tradition.

The institution still plays a significant role in training Islamic scholars as well as issuing religious opinions (fatwas) on a variety of contemporary issues within the Muslim world. Moreover, Al-Azhar is also recognized internationally as a center for inter-religious and intercultural dialogue.
